Columbus Catholic soccer surges past Pacelli, wins sixth in a row

MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic blew open a tight game with four goals in a 18-minute period of the second half and blew past Stevens Point Pacelli 6-1 in a Central Wisconsin Conference soccer game Monday at Griese Park.

The win is the Dons’ sixth in a row and they are now 13-3-1 overall and 10-1 in the CWC with three conference games remaining. Pacelli is 3-14-3 and 2-8-1 in the CWC.

Evan Dieringer and Nadim Torbey had goals in the half to put the Dons up 2-0 at intermission.

Calvin Brown started the scoring in the second half for Columbus, and within 17½ minutes the Dons built a 6-0 lead after Torbey scored two more goals and Dylan Porter added another. Brown assisted on the final three goals.

Kellen Heinzen saved three of four shots in goal for Columbus.

The Dons host Chippewa Falls McDonell/Eau Claire Regis in a nonconference game Tuesday at Griese Park. The two teams tied last month in Chippewa Falls.
