ATHENS – Sophomore Cooper Weinfurter poured in 27 points, making five 3-pointers, to lift the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 76-35 win over Athens in a nonconference game Friday night at Athens High School.
Weinfurter made 7 of 12 shots overall, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, and drained 8 of 9 free throws to finish with 27 points. He also added six steals, five rebounds, and four assists in the victory.
Cale Jacoby added 13 points and Cameron Ertl chipped in 10 for Auburndale (2-0).
Auburndale hosts Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in a Marawood Conference South Division game Dec. 8.
