Marshfield boys hockey shuts out Merrill/Wausau East for first WVC win

MERRILL – The Marshfield boys hockey won its first Wisconsin Valley Conference match of the season, routing Merrill/Wausau East 7-0 on Thursday night at the Merrill Area Recreation Center.

Adam Maki scored twice, and five other Tigers scored in the victory.

Maki scored 5:19 into the game, and Evan Weister and Isaac Wellens each added goals as Marshfield opened up a 3-0 lead after the first period.

The Tigers (10-10, 1-7 Wisconsin Valley Conference) put the game away with a four-goal second period as Maki, Ryan Krueger, Justin Stanek and Tyler Spaeth scored.

Isaiah Baierl had two assists and goalie A.J. Trierweiler had 18 saves to earn the shutout for Marshfield.

The Tigers after off until Feb. 1 when they host D.C. Everest.
