Stratford boys basketball jumps on Spencer early, wins fifth in a row

STRATFORD – Stratford raced out to a big lead by halftime and rolled to a 77-50 victory over Spencer in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford led 46-22 at halftime on its way to its fifth-straight victory. The Tigers are now 15-3 overall, while Spencer drops to 7-9.

Benjamin Barten had 20 points and seven rebounds, and Chandler Schmidt made three 3-pointers and added 13 points for Stratford. Okley Wrensch had seven assists and Trent Heckel also made three 3-pointers and added nine points for the Tigers.

Spencer statistics were not provided.

Spencer plays at Cloverbelt Conference East Division game on Tuesday at Greenwood, while Stratford is off until Friday when it hosts Chequamegon in a Marawood Conference crossover contest.
