Stratford baseball edges Assumption

STRATFORD – Lance Heidmann tossed a complete game without a walk to help the Stratford baseball team edge Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 2-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday.

Stratford only had four hits, but was able to muster single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to win the game in walk-off fashion.

Heidmann struck out four and scattered eight hits to pick up the victory.

Devyn Palmer had a triple and an RBI for the Tigers, who are now 8-5 overall and 6-3 in the Marawood South. Assumption drops to 6-4 and 5-4 in the conference.

The two teams will meet again Thursday in Wisconsin Rapids in the conference finale for both teams.
