Marshfield volleyball swept in Valley opener

WAUSAU – The Marshfield volleyball team got off to a rough start as it opened Wisconsin Valley Conference play with a 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 loss to Wausau East on Thursday at East High School.

Sarah Wolff had 25 assists and Tiffany Stargardt had 12 kills and 12 digs for the Tigers, who drop to 13-7 overall.

Courtney Bauer and Kim Johnson each had five blocks, Darian Molter had 13 digs and Mikala Sebastian added seven kills for Marshfield.

Marshfield plays a nonconference match at Antigo on Monday and hosts Stevens Point on Sept. 16 in its home Valley opener.
