Colby edges Columbus Catholic girls basketball

COLBY – The Colby girls basketball team won its fourth-straight game, holding off Marshfield Columbus Catholic 52-47 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Colby High School.

Colby led 25-21 at halftime and were able to keep the Dons at bay in the second half to win a close one.

The Hornets are now 9-4 overall and 7-2 in the Cloverbelt East. Columbus Catholic falls to 6-6 and 5-3 in conference play.

Emma Peavey had 19 points and Hailey Voelker added 13 for Colby.

Addison Baierl led the Dons with 15 points.

Columbus Catholic will host Loyal on Monday and Spencer on Thursday. Colby returns to action Thursday at Owen-Withee.
