Urban scores twice as Marshfield boys hockey edges Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD – Nick Urban scored a pair of short-handed goals in the second period to lift the Marshfield boys hockey team to a 2-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Thursday at the Marshfield Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Urban scored at the 5:08 and 12:07 mark of the second period to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Carson Gunerson scored for Rapids with 4:43 left but that was all Marshfield would relinquish and held on for the win.

Marshfield (9-7-1, 3-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference) dominated the puck, earning a 38-14 shot advantage. Torger Stachurski had 36 saves in goal for Wisconsin Rapids (7-8-1, 1-4-1 WVC). A.J. Trierweiler saved 13 shots for the Tigers.

Marshfield plays at Lakeland on Tuesday.
