Stratford boys basketball pulls past Spring Grove at Border Battle

LA CROSSE – The Stratford boys basketball used a big second-half push to defeat Spring Grove (Minn.) 60-39 in a game at the Minnesota-Wisconsin Border Battle on Saturday at La Crosse Central High School.

Stratford led 30-26 before taking control in the second half by outscoring Spring Grove 30-13.

Vaughn Breit had 17 points and five rebounds, and Ben Barten had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Stratford, which remains unbeaten this season at 15-0.

Barten was 7-for-7 and Breit 5-for-5 at the free throw line as the Tigers made 19 of 20 attempts.

Dawson Danen added 13 points for Stratford.

Stratford returns to Marawood Conference South Division action Tuesday at Marathon.
