Auburndale girls basketball dominates Newman Catholic

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale used a dominating first half to defeat Wausau Newman Catholic 55-34 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Monday night at Auburndale High School.

The Eagles rolled out to a 34-7 lead by halftime and held on from there, improving to 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the Marawood South.

Hailey Grimm scored 10 of her team-high 13 points in the first half for Auburndale. Annamarie Aue and Kaitlyn Kundinger each added 10 points in the win.

Auburndale plays at Edgar on Tuesday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game starts at 5:45 p.m., with the boys game to follow. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
