MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield baseball split a doubleheader with Stevens Point on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field, handing the Panthers their first loss of the season in the nightcap.

Stevens Point overcame an early four-run deficit to win Game 1 11-8 before the Tigers struck early in Game 2 and prevailed 7-1.

Stevens Point is now 5-1 overall and in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, while Marshfield moves to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Marshfield led 6-2 after two innings in the opener before SPASH scored eight runs during the next three innings to pull away.

Bennett Klish had three hits and scored twice, Logan Schulfer had three hits and three RBIs, and Evan Tuskowski hit a home run for the Panthers.

Nick Urban and Logan Homolka each had two hits, and Homolka, Simon Slade and Trey Montalvo all drove in two runs for Marshfield.

Marshfield scored four times in the top of the second inning of Game 2 to give Urban, the Tigers’ pitcher, more than enough.
