Stratford baseball edges Athens

STRATFORD – Riley Bauman hit a home run as the Stratford baseball team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 5-4 win over Athens on Friday in a nonconference game at the Tiger Stadium baseball field.

Stratford, who lost 3-2 to Edgar on Thursday to end a seven-game winning streak to start the season, is now 8-1. Athens falls to

Dillon Kirsch earned the win with five strong innings and Cam Daul picked up the save with a pair of scoreless innings for the Tigers.

Daul and Hunter Ford each had two hits for Stratford.

Athens pounded out 13 hits, all singles, with Cooper Dietrich and Dayne Diethelm each collecting three.

Athens hosts Cadott for a nonconference game Monday and Stratford returns to action Tuesday at home against Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division game.
