Marshfield softball slips past Merrill

MERRILL – Brooklyn Bohman knocked in Shylah Brogan with the game’s only run in the top of the seventh inning as the Marshfield softball team defeated Merrill 1-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out.

Marshfield improves to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in the WVC. Merrill is now 7-7 and 2-5 in conference action.

Sandra Costa threw 3 2/3 innings of shutout ball for Marshfield, allowing two hits and three walks. Courtney Donahue entered in relief and shutout the Bluejays over the final 3 1/3 innings, giving up two hits and one walk, while striking out five.

Brianna Jakobi and Bohman each had two hits for the Tigers.

Courtney Krueger struck out 12 for Merrill, allowing just the single run in the top of the seventh.

Marshfield will play a doubleheader at D.C. Everest on Thursday starting at 4 p.m.
