MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield American Legion baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak by splitting a doubleheader against Chippewa Falls on Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield won the opener 4-3 in walk-off fashion before Chippewa Falls turned the tables with a 15-7 win in the nightcap.

In Game 1, Marshfield trailed 3-2 before rallying in the bottom of the seventh.

Carsten Jirschele and Kale Weisenberger singled to lead off the inning, Peter Earll bunted and reached on an error with Jirschele scoring from second to tie the game. Chandler Schmidt followed with a single to right field to plate Weisenberger with the winning run.

Jirschele went 3-for-3 and Schmidt had two hits in the win for the Blue Devils.

Camden Daul threw a complete game for Marshfield, striking out four and walking one, to earn the victory.

Chippewa Falls came out swinging in Game 2, scoring four runs in the first and third innings, and five times in the second to take a commanding 13-2 lead.

Karson Bowe had three hits and four RBIs, Grady Fredrick was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and Trevor Bowe, Ethan Goulet and Michael Maurer all drove in two runs for Chippewa Falls.
