Marshfield wrestling wins three titles, takes second at Sparta Invitational

SPARTA – The Marshfield wrestling team won three individual titles and had 10 top-five finishes in all as it placed second at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday at Sparta High School.

All three of Marshfield’s championship match wins came against wrestlers from Holmen, which won the team title with 222.5 points. Marshfield was second with 178.5.

Keagan Cliver (35-5) defeated Andrew Weiss 5-3 to win the 132-pound title, Brett Franklin (31-5) beat Tyler Jahn 7-0 to take the 145-pound championship, and Ryan Dolezal (29-3) earned a 26-11 technical fall victory over Branson Beers to take the 160-pound title.

Caleb Dennee (31-7) was second at 120 pounds, Camren Dennee (34-3) finished second at 170, and Garrett Willuweit (17-3) was runner-up at 152 for Marshfield.

Owen Griesbach finished third at 152, and Jace Kelnhofer (113), James Clements (220) and Adrian Krueger (285) each took fifth place for the Tigers.

Marshfield will wrap up its regular season with a home conference meet against Stevens Point on Thursday at 6 p.m. The match will be live at zaleskisports.com.
