Auburndale wrestling wins three titles at Wausau East Invite

WAUSAU – The Auburndale wrestling team won three individual titles as it placed ninth at the 16-team Wausau East Lumberjack Invitational on Saturday.

Derek Godard (25-6) pinned Mason Dewing of Crandon in 4:15 to take the 106-pound title, Colton Weiler (31-5) won the 113-pound championship with a 9-1 major decision over Garrett Marks of Winneconne, and Sloan Welch (32-4) earned the 195-pound title with a 5-3 overtime win over Gavin Ostermann of Rhinelander for Auburndale.

Noah Altmann finished second at 132 pounds and Brice Thiel was fourth at 195 as well for the Eagles.

Winneconne won the team title with 456 pounds, with Appleton North second with 411.5 points. Auburndale was ninth with 242.5 points.

Auburndale will compete at the Marawood Conference Meet next Saturday, Jan. 29, at Edgar.
