Spencer girls basketball earns road win at Newman Catholic

WAUSAU – The Spencer girls basketball team won its third-straight game with a 38-26 nonconference win over Wausau Newman Catholic on Monday night at Newman Catholic High School.

The Rockets doubled up Newman in the first half, running out to a 22-11 lead, and were able to hold on from there.

Heavyn Kind had 14 points and Jorie Meyer added 10 for Spencer, which improves to 11-5 after winning for the sixth time in its last seven games.

Maggie Wolf scored 12 points for Newman Catholic (6-9).

Spencer hosts Owen-Withee for a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday. Newman Catholic returns to action Thursday with a Marawood Conference South Division game at Auburndale.
