Colby hands Columbus Catholic boys basketball its first conference loss

MARSHFIELD – Richard Streveler and Brody Decker each scored 19 points to lead Colby to a 75-68 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball battle Tuesday at Columbus Catholic High School.

Colby, which lost on its home court to Columbus Catholic a week ago, turned the tables on Tuesday to earn a split in the season series and hand the Dons their first Cloverbelt East loss.

Mateo Lopez added 13 points and Brandon Voelker chipped in 11 points for the Hornets, who improve to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

Sam Wilczek had 19 points and seven rebounds, Charlie Moore made five 3-pointers to finish with 15 points, and Lucas Kreklau added 11 points for Columbus Catholic, which falls to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the Cloverbelt East.

Colby hosts Gilman for a Cloverbelt East game Thursday and plays a nonconference game at Marathon on Friday, while Columbus is off until Saturday when it travels to Chippewa Falls McDonell.
