Spencer girls basketball holds on for road win at Greenwood

GREENWOOD – The Spencer girls basketball team won its sixth game in a row as it held off a late rally to defeat Greenwood 52-47 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest Tuesday at Greenwood High School.

Rebecca Mlsna scored 19 points to lead the way for the Rockets, who improve to 14-5 overall and 11-1 in the Cloverbelt East.

Spencer led 29-17 at halftime and had to hold on as Greenwood made it a game with a 30-point second half, but couldn’t quite catch up.

Mesa Rasmussen had 17 points and Emma Schlough added 14 for Greenwood (3-15, 2-10 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer remains one game behind Neillsville for the conference lead and the two teams will meet Thursday night at Spencer.

Greenwood will travel to Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday. The game starts at 7:15 p.m. and will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
