Columbus Catholic girls basketball uses dominant second half to defeat Loyal

LOYAL – Hailey Zimmermann scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 40-28 win over Loyal in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday night at Loyal High School.

The Dons overcame a 16-13 halftime deficit with a dominant 27-12 advantage in the second half.

Gracie Wilczek added 11 points for the Dons, who are now 11-10 overall and 9-6 in the Cloverbelt East.

Alyssia Zvolena and Sheila Tellock each scored 10 points to lead Loyal (10-12, 8-7 Cloverbelt East).

Both teams finish their Cloverbelt East schedules Monday. Loyal plays at Owen-Withee and Columbus Catholic will host conference champion Neillsville. The Columbus-Neillsville game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
