Auburndale, Marshfield compete at Panther Indoor Track Invitational at UWSP

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield and Auburndale boys track and field teams opened their seasons at the Panther Indoor Boys Track Invitational on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Stevens Point won the team title with 95.34 points, with Kimberly taking second with 81.92. Auburndale was 10th with 18.42 points and Marshfield took 12th with 16 points with a limited squad entered.

Auburndale’s Terrance Roberson won the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 4¾ inches, placed third in the 60 meters in 7.28 seconds, and helped the Eagles’ 1,600 relay team that also included Parker Empey, Austin Quinlan and Gavin White Eagle to a seventh-place finish in 3:49.79.

Marshfield’s Henry Hoerneman had a pair of top-six finishes as he placed second in the 1,600 (4:42.00) and sixth in the 800 (2:09.65). He also was part of the Tigers’ 3,200 relay team, along with David McKee, Jesse Messmann and Graham Lonsdale, that took fourth in 9:01.68.

Marshfield will host its boys indoor invite on Tuesday.

Auburndale will return to action at the UW-Oshkosh Indoor Invitational on March 29.
