Auburndale baseball drops home game to Marathon

AUBURNDALE – Casey Hollenbeck tossed a complete-game four-hitter for the Marathon baseball team in a 9-2 win over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Hollenbeck struck out three and walked two, giving up just single tallies in the third and fourth innings after his team’s offense had already given him a 5-0 lead.

Grant Warren and Daniel LaQua each had three hits, and Nathan Hanke, LaQua and Derek Vesely each drove in two runs for Marathon (8-3, 5-2 Marawood South).

Blake Raab took the loss for Auburndale (9-7, 4-5 Marawood South), striking out four in six innings. He also had two hits, including a double, and scored a run for the Eagles.

The two teams meet again Thursday at Marathon at 4:45 p.m.
