ATHENS – Athens scored six times in the bottom of the first inning and saw Auburndale rally before pulling out an 8-6 win a nonconference baseball game Friday at Athens High School.

Auburndale scored twice in the second inning and four more times in the fourth to tie the game after giving up the early lead, but that was all the Eagles would get.

Athens scored twice in the bottom of the fourth and held on from there as Hunter Haehlke tossed three shutout innings of relief to pin down the save for starter Connor Sheahan.

Aden Cherney and Kaden Anderson each had two hits, with Cherney driving in three runs for Auburndale (10-8).

Nathan Wolf had three hits and two RBI, and Haehlke added two hits and two RBI for Athens (7-6).

Both teams will host nonconference games on Monday. Auburndale will be at home against Loyal and Athens will play Cadott.
