Columbus Catholic softball rolls past Spencer

MARSHFIELD – Akousa Yeboah hit a home run and drove in two runs to help the Columbus Catholic softball team to a 14-0 win over Spencer in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at the Marshfield Fairgounds.

The Dons scored seven times in both the first and second innings, and rode the arm of pitcher Hailey Zimmermann the rest of the way.

Zimmermann threw a five-inning, four-hit shutout as the Dons improve to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in the Cloverbelt East. She finished with seven strikeouts and just one walk.

Sam Casperson and Mattea Schlafke each drove in a pair of runs as well for Columbus Catholic.

Spencer finishes its regular-season schedule with a 1-15 record and a 1-11 mark in the Cloverbelt East.

Columbus Catholic will host Owen-Withee on Monday and travel to Colby/Abbotsford on Tuesday to wrap up its conference and regular-season slate.
