Marshfield baseball downs Wausau East

MARSHFIELD – Ryan Lindemann hit a two-run homer and Braxton Kurth threw a complete-game three-hitter as the Marshfield baseball team defeated Wausau East 4-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Friday at Safford Field.

After starting the season 0-18, Marshfield has now won three of its last four games and are 3-19 overall and 2-8 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Marshfield scored twice in the second inning thanks to an East error and an RBI single by Bennett Lang.

Lindemann’s homer in the third pushed the lead to 4-0 before East (6-10, 1-7 WVC) scored its only run in the sixth inning.

Kurth struck out five and walked just one to earn the win for the Tigers. Wyatt Post and Carston Freis each had two hits for Marshfield.

Marshfield returns to action Tuesday at D.C. Everest. East will host a doubleheader against Wausau West on Monday.
