Columbus Catholic baseball tops Stratford

STRATFORD – Blake Jakobi and Emmitt Konieczny combined on a three-hitter as the Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team finished off its regular season with a 4-1 win over Stratford in a nonconference matchup at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

Jakobi allowed two hits and three walks in five innings to pick up the win, and Konieczny allowed a run and four walks in two innings to finish off the victory.

Grant Olson knocked in a pair of runs, and Konieczny and Cole Timmler each had two hits in the victory for Columbus Catholic (16-3).

Brady Schmidt drove in the Tigers’ lone run in the bottom of the sixth. Stratford heads to the playoffs with a 16-5 record.

Both teams will host WIAA regional semifinals on Tuesday. Stratford will play Northland Pines in a Division 3 matchup, and Columbus Catholic will be at home at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield against Spencer in a Division 4 contest. Both games start at 5 p.m.
