MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team continued its dominance in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 3-0 sweep of Merrill on Thursday at the Chips Hamburgers Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield controlled all three sets, rolling to wins of 25-15, 25-18, 25-7.

Abby Ongna had 13 kills and four aces, Reinya Balderson had 30 assists and eight digs, and Elise Uphoff had 11 digs for the Tigers, who are now 32-3 overall and 11-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Merrill falls to 5-6 in the conference.

Marshfield, champions of the WVC, has not lost a set during its conference season, which ends Thursday with a match at Wausau East.

Caitlyn Pernsteiner added 10 kills, Lauren Homolka had seven kills, and Grace Taylor had eight kills and three aces as well for the Tigers.

The WIAA playoffs start next week. Marshfield’s Division 1 bracket will be announced Wednesday.
