Marshfield lands four on first team of 2022 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Volleyball Team

Undefeated conference champion Marshfield had three unanimous first-team selections and eight in all on the 2022 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Volleyball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches following the season.

The Tigers, who did not lose a single set in conference play, won their third-straight WVC championship with a perfect 12-0 record.

Senior setter Reinya Balderson, senior libero Elise Uphoff and junior outside hitter Abby Ongna were unanimous first-team picks, and senior outside hitter Caitlyn Pernsteiner also earned first-team honors for Marshfield.

Joining them on the first team were D.C. Everest outside hitter Ryden Lehrke, Stevens Point middle blocker Emma Barton and Wausau East setter Savannah Spees.

Ongna led the conference with 144 kills and was fourth with a .302 attack percentage, while Balderson topped the WVC in assists at 376 and assists per set at 10.44. Uphoff was fourth in the conference in digs per set at 3.97 and seventh in serving percentage at .962. Pernsteiner as sixth in the conference in kills with 109.

Junior right-side hitter Grace Taylor and senior middle hitter Rylee Corteen were second-team selections, and junior defensive specialist Ashlyn Barwick and sophomore middle hitter Lauren Homolka was honorable mention choices for Marshfield.
