Marshfield boys basketball pounds Wisconsin Rapids to snap three-game losing skid

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Brooks Hinson scored 21 points and Owen Hanson added 15 to lead the Marshfield boys basketball team to a 71-47 victory over Wisconsin Rapids in the teams’ Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Friday night at Lincoln High School.

Hinson was 7-for-10 from the field and made three of the Tigers’ seven 3-pointers in the win as Marshfield ends a three-game losing streak and improves to 2-3 this season.

Hanson was 6-for-10 shooting as Marshfield shot 57 percent overall (26 of 45) and was 7-for-14 from 3-point range. Luke LeMoine added 11 points and five rebounds as well for the Tigers.

Marshfield led by just five at halftime before crushing the Raiders in the second half with a 39-20 run.

Marshfield jumps right back into action Saturday afternoon as it travels to Kaukauna to take on Kimberly as part of the Baird/Gustman Shootout at 3 p.m. Kimberly downed Marshfield in a playoff game last season.
