Marshfield High School girls swimmer Faith Risa has been voted the Awards ‘n’ More November High School Athlete of the Month.

MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports are co-sponsors of the award for the 2022-23 school year. The monthly award will continue through June 2023, and the winners of the Awards ‘n’ More High School Athlete of the Year, for both male and female athletes, will be announced in July.

Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Amherst, Athens, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, D.C. Everest, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Iola-Scandinavia, Loyal, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Newman Catholic, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point, Wild Rose, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Risa received 1,178 of the nearly 3,400 votes cast during voting from Dec. 1-8 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.

Other nominees for the Novembber award were: Stratford football player Koehler Kilty, Columbus Catholic boys basketball player Emmitt Konieczny, Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls basketball player Reese Rogowski and Stevens Point girls basketball player Emma Jossie.

Risa, who also won the award in October 2020, completed her swimming career at Marshfield in style at the WIAA State Championships on Nov. 12 at Waukesha South High School. She finished 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.63 and 19th in the 200 individual medley in 2:13.32. She was also part of the 200 medley relay team that reached the state meet. Along with sister Terra Risa, and teammates Brooke Begotka and Skylar Onsager, the team finished 18th in 1:52.19. Risa earned a Wisconsin Valley Conference title in the 200 IM and was second in the 100 breaststroke, her first conference loss in the event in three years. Risa also set school records in both of her individual events and totaled five WVC titles in her varsity career.
