Stevens Point tops Marshfield in WVC boys swimming dual

MARSHFIELD – Kyle Berres won a pair of events and helped Marshfield to a relay victory, but the team came up short, falling to Stevens Point 95-75 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swimming dual meet Tuesday at Marshfield High School.

Berres won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.50 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 51.88 seconds for the Tigers.

Berres, Simon Dagit, Carson Klumb and Henry Hilbelink teamed to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:37.90 for Marshfield’s other victory.

Konnor Pilger won two individual events for Stevens Point as he set a new Marshfield pool record in the 500 freestyle with an astounding finish of 4:55.70. He also won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.80.

Mason Soik also won two events for the Panthers, winning the 200 individual medley in 2:16.25 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.15.

Stevens Point is now 2-1 and Marshfield 2-2 in Wisconsin Valley duals this season. Marshfield will swim at the Eau Claire North Invitational on Saturday.
