Spencer boys basketball rips Granton

SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team rebounded well from a loss earlier in the week to Marshfield Columbus Catholic by pounding Granton 59-26 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets outscored Granton 25-6 in the first quarter and led 40-11 at halftime. Spencer improves 2-2 overall and in the Cloverbelt East. Granton falls to 0-5, 0-4 in conference.

Spencer shot 42.6 percent (26 of 61), while holding the Bulldogs to 29.4 percent (10 of 34) from the field. The Rockets also dominated the boards, outrebounding Granton 39-15.

Steven Gilboy had 12 points and six rebounds, Wyatt Phillips added 10 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Rockets.

Spencer plays at Greenwood on Tuesday.
