AUBURNDALE – Kelly Tomfohrde scored 16 points and Liz Breu added 13 to lift the Auburndale girls basketball team to a 42-25 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches remain perfect on the season, improving to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Marawood Conference South Division. The win also sets up a matchup with fellow unbeaten Wausau Newman Catholic (6-0, 3-0 Marawood South) on Tuesday night at Auburndale.
Auburndale led 15-10 after one quarter and 26-15 at halftime. The Apaches put the game away with a 12-1 run in the third quarter.
The Apaches were solid offensively, making 16 of 38 shots from the floor and 4 of 6 from 3-point range.
Assumption falls to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the Marawood South.
