Strong second half lifts Apaches past Stratford

STRATFORD – Auburndale outscored Stratford 16-1 in the third quarter to pull away to a 45-24 Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball victory Friday at Stratford High School.

The Apaches (8-5, 5-3 Marawood South) won for the fourth time in five games to remain in fourth place in the conference standings.

Kelly Tomfohrde scored 10 points and was the only Auburndale player in double figures, but nine Apaches scored in the balanced effort.

Stratford led 9-7 after one quarter but managed only 15 points the rest of the way and falls to 3-11 overall and 1-7 in the Marawood South.

The Tigers were just 8 of 33 shooting from the field.

Auburndale has a nonconference game at home Monday against Rib Lake and gets back into Marawood play on Thursday at Northland Lutheran. Stratford is off until next Thursday when it plays at Pittsville.
