Marshfield fifth again at fifth leg of Wisconsin Valley Conference boys golf tournament

WAUSAU – Marshfield finished fifth for the fourth-straight time, totaling a score of 352 Friday at the fifth leg of the seven-event Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament at Greenwood Hills Country Club.

Michael Josephson led the Tigers again, shooting an 83 to tie for ninth place with Joe Ritchay of Wisconsin Rapids.

Larry Wetzel of D.C. Everest and Aaron Bravick of Wisconsin Rapids tied for medalist honors with 76s. Trevor Thomas of Stevens Point was third with a 78 and takes over the top of the individual standings with 62.5 points.

Brandon Brown fired an 88, Josh Berres had a 90 and Evan Schneider shot a 91 for the Tigers, who moved into a tie for fourth place overall with Wausau East and D.C. Everest.

The final two legs of the tournament will be held next week – Tuesday at Riveredge Golf Course in Marshfield and Friday at Stevens Point Country Club.

Wausau West won the team standings with a 330, two shots ahead of Wisconsin Rapids, three in front of D.C. Everest and four ahead of Stevens Point.

Point remains in the lead for the overall team championship, two points ahead of Wisconsin Rapids.
