Spencer boys basketball comes back to win opener at Gilman

GILMAN – Spencer fell behind early but rallied to beat Gilman 45-37 in the Rockets’ season opener and the Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener for both teams.

Gilman led 16-6 after one quarter only to see the Rockets cut the deficit to 22-19 at halftime and pull ahead 32-29 after three quarters.

Spencer shot just 36 percent, but held the Buccaneers to 28 percent shooting and had a 28-21 rebounding advantage.

Joe Meyers had 15 points and made three 3-pointers, Sam Cattanach had eight points nad 10 rebounds and Steven Gilboy grabbed nine rebounds for Spencer.

Lucas Lato had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Gilman (1-1, 0-1 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer hosts Augusta on Friday.
