MARSHFIELD – Martha Kupfer won two events and Marshfield used its depth to grab the team title at the 2014 Marshfield Girls Track Indoor Invitational on Thursday at The Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.

Kupfer won the 220-yard dash in 27.92 seconds and the 440 in 1:05.44 to pace the Tigers.

Miranda Forrest had the only other win for Marshfield, taking the shot put with a toss of 33-5.

The Tigers had eight other top-three finishes and won the team title with 121.7 points, 16.7 better than second-place Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Spencer tied Medford for fourth and Auburndale was 10th.

”It was great to see such enthusiasm at the Boson Fieldhouse this afternoon,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “We had a number of girls place for us tonight and it was a terrific atmosphere for an early-season track meet.”

Rachel Zastrow led the way for Spencer, winning the pole vault (9-6) and placing second in the 60 hurdles (9.63).

Sylviann Momont won the long jump (15-3.5) and the triple jump (33-6.75) for Auburndale’s lone top-three finishes.

Marshfield will be back in action next Tuesday when it hosts the Marshfield Indoor Relays. Auburndale will also participate in that event.
