WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids scored three goals in the first 14 minutes and went on to a 7-3 victory over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday night.

Wisconsin Rapids improves to 9-6 overall and 8-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Marshfield drops to 8-7-2 and 4-6 in the Valley.

Kaetlyn Becker scored the game’s first goal at the 10;24 mark and added two more for the Raiders.

Darian Molter had two goals and Molly Field added another for Marshfield.

“We can score on anyone, but we have to work hard to control the transition game,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “If we can clean some things up, we could make a run in the playoffs this year. We will not see D.C. Everest, Stevens Point or Eau Claire Memorial in the playoffs like in past years as we drop to Division 2 this year. The next week of practice will tell how far we can go.”

Marshfield hosts Wausau West on Thursday, Ashland in a nonconference game on Friday and Wisconsin Rapids on Monday to finish its regular-season schedule.
