STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Blue Demons dropped the first game of the Class AAA Junior American Legion baseball regional on Wednesday, losing to Wisconsin Rapids 6-2.
Scott Berg gave up four earned runs in a complete-game effort, but suffered the loss for Marshfield. Trevor Schwecke and Braden Bohman each had two hits for the Blue Demons.
Marshfield (13-13) went 2-2 in its home tournament last weekend. The Blue Demons lost to South Wood County and Eau Claire, and defeated Pittsville and a different Eau Claire team. Chippewa Falls won the tournament.
Marshfield will play Antigo or Stevens Point in an elimination game Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The winner plays at 5:30 p.m. in another elimination game.
