Marshfield softball blanks Superior to win WIAA Division 1 regional final

SUPERIOR – Megan Donahue tossed a five-hit shutout and Rhiannon Corozolla knocked in a pair of runs to lift the Marshfield softball team to a 4-0 win over Superior in a WIAA Division 1 regional final Friday.

Marshfield scored single tallies in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to chip away at the Spartans (16-4).

Emily Draeger had a pair of doubles and drove in a run, and Jenna Jakobi also had a hit and an RBI for the Tigers.

Marshfield (18-5) moves on to a Division 1 sectional semifinal at Wisconsin Valley Conference rival Stevens Point (20-6) on Tuesday. The game, at Fire Pro Field in Plover, will begin at 4:30 p.m. Stevens Point beat Wisconsin Rapids 10-0 in a regional final Friday.
