BEAVER DAM – Abbey Bessler scored four goals and Chandler Roy-Peterson and Paige Johnson each added two as the Marshfield girls hockey team routed short-handed Beaver Dam 13-1 in a nonconference game Saturday.

Marshfield scored six times in the first period and six more times in the second period to pull away for its second straight victory to start the season.

Eight different Tigers scored goals in the win. Roy-Peterson, Nicole Karl and Emily Wolfe each had two assists for Marshfield.

“Beaver Dam had a young team and lost some key players to graduation,” Marshfield coach Nate Sparbel said. “The game gave us a chance to work on setting up our offensive zone plays and focus on passing.”

Marshfield plays Rhinelander/Antigo at Antigo on Monday and hosts Baraboo in its home opener Tuesday at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Arena.
