WAUSAU – Auburndale pitcher Morgan Griesbach struck out 10, tossing a two-hit shutout as the Eagles defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 8-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Monday at Sunnyvale Park.

The Eagles scored twice in the first inning on an error, added another in the third and broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning. Mya Krings hit a solo home run, Danika Blomberg drove in two with a double and Regynn Lau followed with an RBI single to up Auburndale’s lead to 7-0.

Griesbach allowed just two singles and three walks in the victory as Auburndale improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Marawood South.

Ashley Jankowski suffered the loss for Newman (1-4, 1-2 Marawood South), finishing with two strikeouts and two walks.

The two teams will play again Tuesday at Auburndale starting at 4:45 p.m.
