Marshfield wrestling team claims four individual titles at Sparta Invitational

SPARTA – The Marshfield wrestling team had four champions and placed fourth among 14 teams at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday.

Defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Brad Dolezal remained undefeated on the season, improving to 32-0 by winning the 160-pound bracket.

Torin Boernke won the 140-pound title for the Tigers, improving to 31-1.

Josh Shupe won the 145-pound bracket and is now 30-3, and Justin Sternweis took the 171-pound title, moving to 27-6.

Daniel Barton (25-8) was third at 135 pounds, Robert Wille was fifth at 189 and Aaron Sternweis (103) and Toran Nieman (112) finished sixth.

Marshfield hosts Wausau East on Thursday in its Wisconsin Valley Conference regular-season finale. The WVC Meet is Feb. 5 at Wausau East.
