Auburndale girls basketball team starts strong, rips Northland Lutheran

AUBURNDALE – Nicole Nikolay led three Auburndale players in double figures with 13 points as the Apaches beat Northland Lutheran 54-34 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

Sam Karl added 12 points and Melanie Brandl had 10 for the Apaches, who improve to 5-3 and 2-2 in conference.

Auburndale jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and led 26-6 by halftime.

The Apaches shot 23 of 48 from the field in the victory.

Morgan Thums scored 14 points for the Wildcats (0-5, 0-4 Marawood South).

Auburndale is off until next Tuesday when they host Pittsville.
