Spencer girls basketball dominates Chequamegon for sixth straight win

SPENCER – The Spencer girls basketball team won its sixth straight game, crushing Chequamegon 46-22 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Krystal Weier had her second straight impressive game, scoring 21 points and snatching six steals for the Rockets (6-1). Weier made 11 of 12 free throws and had two 3-pointers. Tynae Phillips added 10 points and six rebounds for Spencer.

Spencer outscored the Screaming Eagles (1-8) 29-13 over the middle two quarters to pull away.

Spencer returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division action at Colby on Thursday. Colby and Spencer are tied for third place with 4-1 record in the conference, one-half game behind Owen-Withee and a game out of first place behind Neillsville.
