Stratford boys basketball rolls past Pittsville

STRATFORD – Derek Austin scored 16 points and Troy Mengel had 10 points and nine rebounds as Stratford dominated Pittsville 49-29 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Friday night at Stratford High School.

The Tigers outscored Pittsville 11-7 in both the first and second quarters and pushed their lead to 32-18 at the end of three.

Austin and Mengel combined to make 12 of 19 shots from the floor, while the rest of the Tigers were just 10 of 28. Greg Belter added four points and nine rebounds for Stratford.

Pittsville was just 12 of 50 shooting.

Stratford (11-3, 7-1 Marawood South) returns to action Thursday at Marathon. The Tigers lead Marathon by one game for second place in the conference.
