Spencer girls basketball blasts Gilman

SPENCER – Tara Matter scored 18 points and hauled down nine rebounds as the Spencer girls basketball team dominated Gilman 60-16 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Krystal Weier added 13 points and four steals, and Courtney Schulz had 11 points for the Rockets, who improve to 14-6 and 10-5 in the Cloverbelt East.

Gilman falls to 1-18 and remains winless at 0-15 in the conference.

Spencer jumped on the Pirates early, outscoring them 13-4 in the first quarter, 10-4 in the second quarter and 23-2 in the third to build a 46-10 lead.

The Rockets close out their Cloverbelt East schedule Friday at Greenwood.
