GREEN BAY – Marshfield High School graduate Maria Anderson, a junior on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s tennis team, won a three-set match at No. 4 singles in the Phoenix’s 4-3 loss to Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday.

Anderson knocked off Caterina Kiefer in a tiebreaker, winning 6-4, 3-6, 10-3. She was one of three singles players to win, but the Phoenix was swept in the three doubles matches and falls to 0-7 this year.

Anderson (2-5) won her second straight match. She defeated Kelly Fritz of UW-Milwaukee 1-6, 6-1, 10-7, in a No. 4 singles match last Friday.

Anderson and Rebecca Nelson lost a No. 2 doubles match to Alex Forsyth and Anita Henestrosa 8-6.

UW-Green Bay returns to action Sunday with a nonconference match at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
