LOYAL – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team finished off a suspended game from last week, defeating Loyal 11-1 in five innings on Wednesday at Loyal High School.
The Dons entered Wednesday’s action with a 4-0 lead after a four-un second inning when the game started last Friday.
The game was halted in the third inning by rained and resumed with Columbus Catholic ripping off a seven-run fourth.
Two Loyal errors got the ball rolling, Mac Konieczny delivered a two-run single, Carson Eckes knocked in another with a single and Blake Jakobi drove in two more with a double to put the Dons up 11-0.
Loyal scored once in the bottom of the fifth but that would be all as Columbus (13-1, 9-0 Cloverbelt Conference East Division) clinched the outright conference championship.
Emmitt Konieczny threw a complete-game one-hitter for the Dons with eight strikeouts and no walks allowed.
Carter Sommer also added two RBI in the victory for the Dons.
Columbus Catholic will finish its conference season at Greenwood on Thursday.
