WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Andie Varsho, a 2010 graduate of Marshfield High School, hit .500 to help the Purdue softball team to a four-game sweep last weekend to win the Lobo Classic in Alburquerque, N.M.

Purdue hit .402 as a team in beating Bryant College, Northern Colorado, Central Arkansas and New Mexico to open its 2012 season.

Varsho was a third-team All-Big Ten selection last year as a freshman after hitting a team-best .426 with 30 runs scored, 30 RBIs and 34 stolen bases.

Varsho, a four-time all-state high school player, will lead Purdue into the Frost Classic at Chattanooga, Tenn., this weekend. The Boilermakers play Belmont and Tennessee-Martin on Friday, Niagara and Chattanooga on Saturday, and Troy on Sunday in the round-robin format.
